My wish has always been to make stained glass and geometry accessible to as many people as possible. The group courses offer one more way to serve this goal that I hold so dear.
The principle remains the same: from cutting to soldering, the complete method, the tools yours to keep, autonomy guaranteed when you leave. If it were not so, these courses would not exist. But their nature is different. I will be there, whole, but less available one-on-one than in a private course.
What changes in a group course
Three days to approach one of the two methods, your choice, and lay the foundations that make you autonomous.
The way of the solids.
The solids are a marvel: some, quick to make, are no less spectacular, and the choice of shapes is vast.
On the first day, we make a cube, step by step. It is not yet a matter of aesthetics: it is the time for discovering the tools, getting a feel for them, sensing the workshop. The hand does, and the mind learns. We begin with cutting, using the ArtiZi·OM Design tools, then we wrap each face in copper and raise the structure in three dimensions, as one would assemble a model, each angle seating the one before. Finally, we approach the soldering. On the following days, we repeat the same gestures on a large icosahedron, 30 cm across, but this time we carry it through to the end. The ample format leaves time to tame the soldering and bring forth a spectacular work.
The way of the spiral.
Zomes are diamonds that must be earned; they are at once the process and the result, their beauty matched only by the pleasure of bringing them to life.
We make one together, a Zome 6 Yoni carried through whole. We take the time to make just one, fully. From cutting to assembly, when a star takes shape, to the soldering that crystallizes the whole, and the closing that seals the piece. We make it in its hanging version, for knowing how to make it hanging already means knowing how to make it freestanding.
Where the 3-day course asks you to choose between solid and spiral, giving yourself 5 days leaves time to approach both methods, while refining the soldering.
We first lay the foundations with a solid, the cube, to tame the tools, discover the steps, the gestures. The night will settle the know-how, before setting off on a Zome 6 Yoni, the spiral's first flight, carried through whole in its hanging version: knowing how to make it hanging already means knowing how to make it freestanding. The passage from one to the other lights up the whole method: what the rigor of the solid has taught, the spiral extends; and along the way, you understand that both are born of the same tree.
It is the most complete format, the one where you give up nothing. You leave with two geometries in your hands, and the overview of a craft that holds together.
The complete method, the tools yours to keep, autonomy guaranteed when you leave, as in a private course. The group allows a lighter price. Price for the course alone, accommodation extra (see Practical info).
A word on communal life. I offer this lodging in the intimate wish to make accessible all that can be, so that the course always comes first. A beautiful shared experience only has substance in the respect of each person, and I trust everyone's civic good sense to hear it. To share the tent is to accept silence from 10:30 pm, when a neighbor's rest comes before chatter, and to care for the place (no drunkenness, no substances). These few rules say only one thing: here, the collective comes before the individual, and I reserve the right to invite anyone who forgets it to leave.
Three sessions in 2027.
Book your place; the group takes shape together.
Courses offered all over France, in unusual and artistic places that welcome the method for a session.
The course takes place from 4 participants, up to 5 people.
The booking is confirmed by a 25% deposit; the balance is due at the latest 21 days before the course. Until that point, the balance is fully refundable; afterwards, nothing is refunded but nothing is lost: everything becomes a credit, valid for any other course, private or group, at the period of your choice. And should the session be cancelled for lack of participants, you would be fully refunded, or rescheduled, as you choose.
Need more information, or feel like talking the courses over? Do not hesitate to contact me.
You are all welcome. I will be honored to share the workshop with you.
